my sound has gone- nothing plays anymore. i have not reinstalled anything,
nor changed my computer in any way.(as far as i am aware). I have also
started getting the message "click to activate and use this control" on media
player and also things like my volume control etc.
I have been through the direct x troubleshooter, the sound trouble shooter,
my drivers are all ok, all the leads and plugs are connected but still
nothing. i have windows xp. can anyone help or point me in the right
direction please!!!

Hi there Emma,

Do you know the make and model of the soundcard perhaps? It's most likely
that one of two things have occurred:

1) The system may have tossed out the device drivers for your soundcard. If
that is the case, we can find you up to date drivers if you can tell us the
make and model of the card.

2) The soundcard may have gone bad and is no longer detecting in the system.
If this is the case, you can purchase a new sound card from your local PC
store and even have them install it for a fee. If the machine is a laptop
however, you will have to get what they call a PCMCIA sound card, just to let
you know.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,

~Will
