no search from address bar

when i search from address bar i get a address like this
http:///? smoke and the properties are as follows
res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http:///? smoke
and i have run sbybot adaware and 3 virus scans
and all come up clean
any ideas

ok i did the reg repair suggested still get the same error
but i don't have the ? and % in address bar
