no read permissions on 'msysaccounts'

I have a user with an Access database that was originally created in '95 and
converted to '97. I was the lucky one to get the task of helping them
convert the database last year to Access 2000 (though I'm not much of an
Access person). By all measures, the conversion worked fine and all was
good...

Now, the admin is trying to set user permissions for someone new (he says
he's done this several times since last years' conversion. When trying to
set security for users and groups, he gets Record(s) cannot be read; no read
permissions on 'msysaccounts'. He has tried this when logged on as himself,
being in the admin group and as the Admin account. This is the only thing
which does not work. Current users can work fine in the database. (fyi.. It
is possible that some of the users have Office 2003).

Is this corruption or a situation where it needs unsecured and reconverted?
We no longer have '97 available and I don't think they have the WID or
anything else.

Thanks much

You should have unsecured it, converted and then reapplied security. I
would suggest you unsecure it, and then create a new mdw in 2000.

(Since you don't have the SID's, then just unsecure it using the
administrative user, and start anew.

A couple of useful utilities at http://www.daiglenet.com/MSAccess.htm will
help to script out the permissions and reapply them.

Look for dbUtilities.
