I do not have a printer, but every time I reboot, I get
the New Hardware Wizard. I have attempted to go through
the wizard and install a generic printer driver, but the
problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated...

Yep. Tried it. The article says to contact the manufacturer. There is no printer installed. No printer attached. And the wizard only says it found a new "printer". No reference to type or manufacturer. I'm sure the registry contains some reference to an unfinished installation of some unknown printer, but I don't know where to look. Thanks in advance

Try following the directions below from the hp site referenced in the
Microsoft KB article -- they seem pretty non-brand-specific to me:

Following the successful installation of the HP product software,
a "Found New Hardware" message may occur during the Windows 2000/XP
startup process.

1. Click Next on the initial message screen - Welcome to the
Found New Hardware Wizard.
2. Select the Search for a suitable driver for my device
option, and click Next.
3. Uncheck all Optional search location checkboxes, and click
Next.
4. Click Next in the Driver Files Search Results window.
5. Click Yes in the Digital Signature Not Found window.
6. Click Finish. If the issue continues, contact the OEM.

SUMMARY: The situation above can occur when the printer driver
does not use the Plug and Play method of installation (for example, the
OEM installation was used, or the driver was installed using the
Start/Run area in Windows). When the New Hardware Found message appears
after the printer driver installation, it does not mean the printer
driver was not successfully installed. The Windows Plug and Play feature
needs a response.
