no POST/BOOT???

Hi all,

Im having some problems w/ my machine.

Sometimes when I power up my PC, nothing happens. I know there is
power, cos I can hear the fans start up, however no signal goes to the
monitor, and it remains in stand-by mode.

I have to then turn it off, and then restart, and then everything is
perfectly fine. What could be the problem?
At first I thought its because I had a cd in the cd-drive. Cos I could
hear it spinning on startup, and a couple times it booted without the
cd in it. However the problem remains.

Im not sure if its a videocard problem, since no signal is going to
the monitor, thats why i've cross-posted to both groups.

Im kinda a newbie to this stuff, so any ideas on what kinds of stuff I
should be investigating/looking for?

Thanks!

try turning off quick boot option(cmos setup)...it may be the PSU can't do a cold boot. If you have allot of peripherals, try
disconnecting them USB stuff even.

it also maybe your memory timings are to fast/or bad memory module

And the video card brand/model would be......?

Pull Power cord out and clear the CMOS and try again and reset BIOS
settings.

To add, to this, also make sure the power switch on the power supply is
turned to off '0' before unplugging. And, that it is still in 'off' when
plugging back in. Then returning it to 'on' (1).

May sound strange, but this is what I have to do with a RADEON 9700np.... I
spent a month blaming the motherboard and/or power supply. The newer
motherboards/video cards are very picky, it seems.
