No pictures in window explorer - Vista

When I open a folder in Vista---windows explorer which contains photos, I
should see thumbnail photos of each one. I don't. I get a yellow file folder
and no pictures. How do I set up the computer to get the pics?
 
This is a Windows Mail problem?

What happens if you double click the folder icons?
