No picture in video

I am using Windows XP and have recently upgraded to Windows Media Player 11
as well as IE Beta 7,

I am unable to see any pictures in videos off the internet, altho I can hear
the sounds. I understand I may need codecs but there are a zillion codecs
out there and dont know which one is appropriate. Is there any other
solution to this problem.

Download and install G-Spot Codec Identifier from
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

If G-Spot tells you it's XVID, you'll need the codecs from
www.xvidmovies.org

If G-Spot tells you it's DIVX, you'll need the codecs from
www.divx.com

I downloaded and installed G-Spot Codec Identifier but they are asking me
for a file name, while I am looking to see videos from off the internet (like
recipe videos from Cooking websites)
e.g.http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/re_video_of_the_day. What am I doing
incorrect? Pls help

Let's have a look and see what format video they are using.... Hmmm, it
comes up with an embedded Windows Media Player on my PC but they are using
an MP4 format. Do you have Quicktime installed as well as WMP? I obviously
have the codecs for MP4 but I'm not sure what application installed them on
my PC....

I know I do have the Indeo Codecs installed because I remember buying the
download. I think the best thing to do is contact the Food Network and ask
what they suggest. They may have a free download for you that supports MP4
or be able to tell you exactly which MP4 codecs they are using.

The Windows XP Codec pack includes FFDShow MP4 codec. It will likely do the
trick.
