i dont get things with pictures in it to come up when im
surfing the net. only get a box with the x to click on

Try this: In IE, go to Tools>Internet options...>Advanced tab. About
halfway down the list is "Multimedia". Under it, UNcheck "Show image
download placeholders" and checkmark "Show pictures" if not already done.
