I have a laptop bought in Spain with obviously a Spanish Windows XP
installed. I have purchased a fully legal copy of XP in English that I would
like to install on this laptop. I thought I would be able to do it by
inserting the disk (English version), booting from the CD and doing a repair
install. I assumed the English version would install over the Spanish.
However, when I hit "Enter" to set up Windows XP I do not get an option to
repair. Only a caution message saying that installing multiple operating
systems on one partition can cause problems.
Do I have to reformat the drive and perform a clean install or is there a
way to switch to the English version whilst keeping all my files, programs
and settings intact?
I have tried the following with no luck:
From Michael Stevens' "How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"
( http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm ):

If the Repair Option is not Available"

Any help / ideas?
