no new window

my IE6 browser [which I am using with XP professional] has, today, stopped
being able to open a web page in a new window. All I get is the "not
responding" sign. This has never happened before.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Go to Start/Run, and type: REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL Then open IE, Tools menu, Options, Program Tab, and click the "Reset Web Settings"
button.
