Hi,

Just found out I have no way to put a new contact into my address book. I
had no problem at all importing contacts from my old .wab data base but now
there is no way to add a new contact other than to fool it by sending an
email to a new contact first so it will automatically add it. I'm not
joking. There is no "new contact" listing on the tool bar. I cannot right
click on the tool bar to find such a listing. Any suggestions? I know how
it is supposed to be done ... saw the help on it ... but it simply is
nowhere to be found.

Thanks in advance,
Nancy

If you open contacts and then right click, click 'New' and 2nd down is
contact, this will then allow you to add your contact.

Cheers

Open your Contacts folder. Right click in an open area in the list of
contact and select New/Contact.

Cheers, Dave

Finally something that works. This did it! Thanks. It only works in the
"details" view but at least it can be done. Do you have the option to add a
new contact on the toolbar? That's what "help" tells us should be there.
But it's not on mine. Is there a way I can adjust something to get that?

Thanks,
Nancy

Thanks, this only works in the "details" view. "new" is second from the
bottom on mine.

Right-click in a blank area of your Contacts folder, select 'Customize this
Folder...', then select 'Contacts' as the template.

Excellent! Thank you!

Now is there a way to get rid of the blank space to the right... that is an
area to "select a file to preview"? Not a big deal but I would never use
it.

Thanks,
Nancy

With Contacts open, go to Organize/Layout and turn on/off whichever Pane(s)
you want.

FWIW, right-clicking an OPEN area to get the New option works in any view,
you just have to be in an open area, like right after your last contact. It
doesn't matter what View you use, Icons, Details, etc. I even turned on
Extra Large Icons and simply right-clicked in an area between the icons,
like right below the Name. I was also able to right-click in an empty
Preview Pane. However, I haven't gotten it to work in the Details Pane
itself.

Cheers, Dave

Oh, boy that worked. I thought I was so "with it," on the ol' Windows 98SE
but this is giving me a real run around ... but change is good. Just have
to learn the ropes. It's real tricky to hit the right spot to right click
between the names. You really need a wide open area. I prefer the toolbar
method. So now it's beginning to look good. All fixed up!

Thanks,
Nancy

options and didn't even see Contact there. LoL

Aha, I see you can get "file", etc. in your contacts window if you go to
"organize", "layout", then check "menu bar". Before this I didn't have the
familiar menu bar. Thanks.

Me too. Just thought you had to be in the contacts window to set up a new
contact. It's getting easier though. One step at a time.

If you don't want the menu bar showing all the time, you can turn it off and
just press the ALT key to toggle the menu bar on or off.
