No Network Connections visible

Hi, how is everybody doing?

This cropped up on one of the PCs here recently and I cannot figure it out:

When "View Network Connections" is selected I get nowhere. In Control Panel
too the "Network Connections" applet doesn't lead to anything. I do see
other computers on the network. I can use the Earthlink account to dial up
through the modem but that connection is invisible.

All the icons do show in the Taskbar though. However, when any such icon
(LAN. Modem, or 1394) is right-clicked and "Open Network Connections" is
selected, again I get nowhere.

The only software change on this machine was when Service Pack 2 Release
Candidate 2 was installed. I cannot say for certain though that the issue
started after that install. It was discovered merely by chance.

The issue does not affect anything. I is just a little disconcerting and
weird. It is as if Network Connections simply does not exist on this PC!

Any suggestion would be very welcome.

Thanks a lot in anticipation.

Everybody have a very nice day!

Sorry for this add-in:

I meant to say that "It is a little disconcerting.........." towards the end
of my initial post and not "I is a little....", though some of my buddies do
see me that way, errors in grammar notwithstanding!

Have you tried the fixes in this article 825826 ?

They didn't work for me, but I was curious if they would
work for anyone.
