no network after mthrbrd install

The old mb died, installed a new one. reinstalled xp pro. got everything to
work except the network. I tried both ethernet card and wirless. I tried
going to my wireless router and straight to the cable modem. The trouble
shooter says both cards are working. the ethernet is part of the mb so i
can't take it out and in, but i did uninstall and re install the wireless but
to no avail.
When i try to use the Wireless network wizard in Control Panel I get this
popup:
Error in wzcdlg.dll
Missing Entry: FlashConfigCreateNetwork

I could really use some help.
thanks,
mike

Hi Mike,

Have you installed the motherboard drivers yet? Tried downloading and
installing an updated nic driver set from the maker's web site?

NIC=network interface card. That's referring to the drivers for your
network card. Probably came with your motherboard (assuming your NIC is
built into the motherboard and is not a separate card), though it might
be in a different place on the CD. You may also need to reboot after
installing your drivers.

thanks. i double checked that i installed all the drivers that came witht he
motherboard, including the LAN driver.that would be for the ethernet
connection
I also re installed the driver for the wireless card, altho after trying to
install it again it told me that i already had the latest driver.
when i look at either the ethernet connection or the wireless connection
under Device Manager,DM says they're both working properly.
(i've robooted after all the steps)
thanks for your help, other ideas?

You won't get very far with wireless until after to find out what to do
about this problem..
One other thing, are you certain that you should be using the Wireless
wizard for your wireless adapter? A lot of them have their own method for
hooking up wireless.

Hi,

Log into the router from a different machine, does it see the connection to
this machine?
Alternately, try logging into the router from this system, can you?
What if you ping the router?
What if you ping yahoo.com?
Run ipconfig from a cmd prompt, what does it tell you about the IP and
subnet in use? The gateway?

in the course of rechecking the wireless is now connected with 'strong'
signal. I was able to ping 192.168.1.1 but not yahoo.com.
I tried to see the computer from another connected to the same router, but
don't see the computer i'm trying to fix.
ipconfig:
i get a DNS suffix for both (ethernet wireless)
an ip address for both
a subnet mask for both
a default gateway for wireless only

Hi,

Ok, so the connection is working. The problem may lie in the router - do you
use any of the advanced features, like allowing detection only by certain
mac addresses, or WEP/WPA?

computer in question and tried puttin in the ssid and wep key, but it doesn't
seem to take. I'm using the Network Connections from Settings
What's odd is the only new equipment is the mother board teh wireless equip
all worked before the mb replacement.
thanks for your help. seems we're getting closer
