No 'net access since SP2 removal. Desperately nedd help.

Hi, i had an issue that i couldnt resolve after installing SP2, which i wont
go into here just yet. Basically i could access my network, but it refused to
see my ADSL connection (via wireless adsl router).

I had to uninstall it to get myself back online.

Since i removed it, certain programs have refused to acknowledge that an
internet connection is present. They simply refuse to connect.
All the effects programs have been installed or updated since SP2 was
removed. So far: Steam, Limewire & Avast Antivirus - have all stopped
accessing the internet. They dont even attempt to.

I tried running a windows clock updater, and it threw up errors relating to
winsock problems. So i tried all the fixes and fixers i could find for
winsock problems but none have worked.

Im utterly clueless now as to what to do. If any other progs stop working im
going to have a hard time getting help to put this right.

I'll try installing SP2 again, in a hope that it'll fix this. But i need my
laptop ready before i do that, as if i lose my internet access again i'll
have no way of getting help.
