I have an HP Pavilion ze5740 notebook with XP PRO SP 1
installed. I no longer can boot my system. Safe Mode
shows me the last DLL being loaded as KDCOM.DLL.

When I try to reinstall the OS from CDROM, it tells me my
partition cannot be accessed and that I need to re-format
my drive. This is a major bummer.

Also, I cannot go into R, for Recovery Mode and EXPAND the
DLL's that are corrupt or missing, because the Recovery
Mode shell cannot see my hard drive at all.

What can I do now??

Thanks.

I would be wishing for some real good backup software right now... no
offense, but it sure does sound like you have a major problem on your hands.
If XP cannot recognize your hard drive, then you will have to reformat. No
choice or other option at this point.
Get a new drive and install XP from scratch. Then without hesitation,
install a Anti-Virus program. After that, try hooking your other drive as a
slave and see if you can use from there. Pull the data off and trash that
older drive or reformat if you can pull off the data you need/want.
Good luck!
