No logon servers available

When trying to connect to a share on a 2000 server from a
2000 Pro workstation logged on as administrator, I receive
the error \\server not accessible. There are currently no
logon servers available to service your logon request.
However I can access the workstation form the server fine.
I have static IP addresses and can view the server in
Network Places and ping it by IP and by name. I can access
the internet through the LAN on the workstation. I just
can't access the server's shares from the workstation. I
have tried installing NetBEUI with the same results. Any
ideas?

Does the ipconfig/all show that everything is pointing to your server-IP?
