No logon possible on W2k server - not a password problem !!

Hello, guys,

since one week, we are facing a severe problem with a w2k server
running oracle databases.

The server is member of a w2k domain, and as domain admin, you can
connect to
hidden shares, you can connect to the system via mmc and registry
editor, but you can n o t logon via terminal service or console, even
not as local administrator.

After entering the credentials, you get "Applying your settings", and
immediately, you get "Saving your settings".

So, no way to log on. So is there anything we can to to prevent us
from reinstalling ??

Can somebody help ???

Nobody is trying to prevent you from re-installing Windows 2000 . . .
but you may be able to avoid it, by doing this:

- Copy c:\winnt\system32\userinit.exe to the same directory
(which you have to create!) on every other server drive
(D:, E:, F:).
- Make sure that userinit.exe has no NTFS restrictions applied.
