I started with a Gateway 4000510 board (BX) and a PIII 500, 384 ram. First,
I can't
flash BIOS. It won't boot to floppy. I've reset the boot order, moved and
removed the jumper and it won't boot to floppy. OK, big deal. Next, it will
boot to XP Pro CD, install files and when it says 'starting windows' the
screen sort-of flashes and the keyboard lights go out and I can't hit enter,
r or F3. I've tried 2 Pro retail cd's, 1 usb kb and 2 ps2 kb's. I have 2
Maxtor hd's, both have a working XP Pro installation, but the BIOS can't
find
them. I feel like a MO-RON...what am I missing?

You're certainly not a moron, but it sounds like your hardware is
faulty. I'm not sure why you wanted to flash your BIOS, but it sounds
like you either have a bad flash or you possibly used the wrong BIOS
update. If everything worked before you flashed your BIOS and now it
doesn't, that's a good example of cause and effect.

It's a 'new' system. After the keyboard problems, I thought it may be a BIOS
problem...including the 25G HDD's' I'll buy a new floppy today, since I
don't know if it works.
