No keyboard detected

Many thanks for the tips I have picked up over the last few weeks since I
started following this NG.

Problem - Just installed Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Works fine.
But when computer is starting a voice says "no keyboard detected" It's
irritating, especially if the volume was left on high at turnoff.

I have turned off sounds in CP. Makes no difference.

Desktop with XP Pro.

Is there something I can do, other than turn the speakers off.

If no technological solution someone please give me her name and address!

Thanks
Carl

I suspect that this announcement is generated well before
Windows starts, hence it is not really a Windows question.
If so then you need to go into the BIOS setup and check
if there is a setting to disable this feature.

In line with Pegasus's response, look for something in the bios that enables
Legacy USB devices.

If all else fails, plug in a PS2 (non-USB) keyboard and hide it out of the
way. You can have two keyboards attached at the same time, USB & PS2.

The fact that she can't see the keyboard means she won't let me into the
BIOS! Rather than go down to recycling and getting the old one back I
borrowed next door's.

You are right. Just turned off all sounds in the BIOS and she has gone back
to sleep. But I am sure she lives to fight another day!

Will purchase a cheap one for future use. There should be a warning on
these wireless keyboards.

With all of the sounds now off I will have a tranquil start to my day.

Many thanks for your help.
