No internet

I just reinstalled XP on a newly formated drive. Before the format
the computer showed a firewire connection and an internal lan adapter.

The 1394 net adapter is what is listed now. This doesn't sound like
either connection I have.

I have one other computer pluged into the router and it works fine.

I have ran the network wizard twice and rebooted twice and still no
connection.

Could someone suggest what I might be doing wrong please?

It seems that you lost your Network Cars, 1394 is the Firewire connection.
Your LAN card is probably Not configured correctly and need to be
reinstalled.
