no icons or toolbar

My friend has no icons or toolbar on his desltop after installing windows
updates. I have tried to restore his system to an earlier date butit doent
work, you cant right click to show icons, kellys tools dont help from the
website either. A pop up also comes up saying Windows explorer has
encountered a problem and needs to close, you can either click on debug which
does nothing or close which shuts down the pc????

You might want to try a Repair Install.

Do a rollback for display drivers via the Device Manager.
