No icons in tray

All the icons on my tray bar have disapeared. I've tried loging in and restarting again but they just won't show up. This is real annoying because I have no idea what programs are running. If I minimize something like MSN Messenger, it goes to the tray thing, but you can't see it, so to open it again I have to go into the start menu. I've tried logging into my moms account and her tray thing is fine. This started after I had download "Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP, Tweak UI" There was no options on the tweaking thing to show /hide icons on tray though, so I have no idea how this happened. I uninstalled the tweak thing and nothing happened. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Go to Kelly's site:

and scroll down to line 294, right column 'Hide or *show* notification
area icons.'

Good luck

Hi Lisa,

Didn't work :( Thanks anyway

Go to Start > Run > msconfig
startup tab and disable all items.

If you can see the icons fine then, re-enable the items one or two at
a time until you find the one which causes this.

Good luck

Believe it or not but that didn't work either. I could always creat a new user account but I'm not sure how to transfer my files.

Lisa,

You mention Taskbar thing then mention no icons in the Tray and these are
not the same. Beings you mentioned TweakUI you seemed to have unchecked
this setting without even knowing what the Notification Area is.

Just humor me and open TweakUI, go to Taskbar and Start menu and put a check
back in the box that reads: Show taskbar notification icons.
