No icon at all appearing in address bar

Hello, I've searched this group for my answer, but haven't seen it yet:

Eventually, I would like favicons to appear in my address bar. However,
currently no icon at all -- not even the default IE icon -- appears.
Instead, I see the even more generic Windows "image" icon.

When I add a page to favorites, the favicon (or default IE icon) appears in
the favorites, but the address bar doesn't change - it still shows the
generic image icon.

How can I get the address bar to start showing images again? Any ideas?
I'm running very current software (IE6 on XP SP2).

Thanks!
Geoff

Hi Geoff ;-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Preserve the Favicons using AM Deadlink:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/favicon.htm

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Jan :)

Thanks for the suggestion. However, this isn't a favicon problem. No icon
appears in my address bar - even the default "blue e". I need to figure out
how to get any icon at all to reappear in my address bar.

Thanks!
