No "Growth Trend" choice on shortcut menu

I have a series of numbers - I want to project them into the future.

MS Excel Help screen "Project Values" says "You can fill in a series of
values that fit a simple linear trend or an exponential growth trend by using
the fill handle." It says to select 2 or more cells with starting values,
drag w/right mouse button, release and choose "Growth Trend" on popup
shortcut menu.

When I do so the "Growth Trend" option is light gray - not available.

I figure it may be because I wasn't really "filling in" values, but rather
projecting. So to test the function I erased several values in the middle of
the series, selected the 4 beginning values before the first number I erased,
drug the fill handle w/right button, released - same thing. "Growth Trend" is
light gray but not available.

Anyone know why the option isn't available - or am I missing something.

Works for me. What are your all your starting numbers? What options are not
grayed out? Are the numbers numbers or are they text numbers?

Works for me too.

Are you sure you are dragging down into empty cells?
If so, then i think it might be a number format issue
