No graphics

The majority of the time I receive attachments (jpg, bmp,
tif, etc) in mail or go to sites with graphics, the
picture comes up with a box with a small red "x" in the
upper left corner of the box. Anybody have any idea why my
Win 2K can't deal with these graphics files?
