No DVI video

My computer has an Nvidia GeForce 6800GT AGP 8x graphics card w/256MB GDDR3
memory. The graphics card has one VGA port and one DVI port. When I connect
my Dell W1900 19-inch widescreen TV to the DVI port I can't get any video.
The VGA port works fine.

I read a post in the Microsoft newsgroups stating you have to connect two
monitors and enable the second monitor to get video with the DVI port, but
when I tried connecting both the VGA and DVI ports to my monitor
simultaneously, I still only get video through the VGA port and Windows Vista
gives me an error message stating I am using an outdated graphics driver that
doesn't support multiple monitors. This error appears even with version 88.61
of Nvidia's own graphics drivers. How are some of you getting any video
through the DVI port on your Nvidia graphics cards?

Sorry, no help for you here.

I have an x86 install of Vista on a 6600Gt which has dual DVI and I can use
them both either seperately or at the same time.
I also have x64 on a 7600Gt, Dual DVI and can use either or both....

I am using the 88.61 drivers.

Do you have access to a cheap CRT that you could connect to the VGA port to
test with? I would set the CRT to the lowest resolution possible and then
try to get the LCD as the main monitor.

Are you running the x86 or x64 version of Vista? Can you double check to
make sure that you installed the correct version of the drivers(matching the
OS?)
I don't have any other ideas.

You can connect a single Monitor to a DVI port. I have a PC flat screen
monitor that I do that with.
With a TV connection to a TV you have to be sure you are resolution that the
TV user manual says it will accept over DVI. Most of them ony accept 480i,
480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p or some subset of these. I suggest you try 720p
(1280x720@60Hz) if you can't find your user manual.
