I installed a new msi x6200 video card today . when i connected the dell
2007wfp monitor with a dvi connection , no signal . the old video card had a
vga connection , so i used that cable and viola , signal . when i try to
connect the dvi cable nothing , i do not understand why there would be a vga
signal and no dvi signal , please help .

Why would the motherboard BIOS have a setting for a connection to an add-in
AGP/PCIe video card?

I have an ATI x1600 with analog and digital connections and a monitor on the
digital - no BIOS setting required/invoked/involved.

I agree Jerry, I have gone through the bios and found nothing refering to any
dvi or vga settings. Still no dvi signal from cpu today. Thanks but still
need help.

Have you tried starting the computer with a monitor attached to the vga
port and then going into the display properties and selecting the dvi
port as the primary? Some cards will automatically select whichever
port is connected, yours may not be one of those.

well , the new card passed on to the other side . went i got home , the
screen saver was frozen . so i shut down and restarted . when at the welcome
screen complete fuzz everywhere . after starting in safe mode a couple of
times to check hardware conflicts , with none , then a check of the bios ,
nothing abnormal , and

out with the new and in with the old .

well everything is back to normal with a couple of adjustments . now let's
see if computer sonics takes this baby back !

thanks for the help !

As usual Andrew, a clueless, useless reply. The motherboard BIOS will
contain no such setting for an add on video card.

Did you set the monitor to use its DVI (digital) input connection? It might
not auto-sense the input source. Could also be that the DVI output has to be
selected in the video card driver/advanced settings.

Sounds like you also had a driver installation problem.

I Had "no signal" problem before, as I changed the monitor, so figured out it
was resolution problem- check resolution.check your previous and current
resolution.
Thanks
