No Device Prompt - can anyone tackle this?

Hi. I am having troubles with the "auto-play" feature on my computer,
specifically my media card drive.

For years whenever I would insert my card into the slot, a screen would
automatically come up asking me what I want to do with these files - which is
how I set it up (to prompt me everytime). Well, one day, about 2 months ago,
all that stopped.

So, besides changing the preferences/settings for the device (multiple
times) I reinstalled the drivers, updated the drivers, rolled back driver(s),
etc. (not in that order), and contacted Sony support - which was a waste of
time. Of course Sony Support (or anyone's answer when they do not know how to
correct a computer related problem) said I should restore my computer to a
earlier time. Unfortunately, this is not an option for me since I have never
once been able to use that feature on my computer and I don't know why, nor
do I care at this point because all I want to do right now is simply fix the
problem with the media card prompt.

With all of that in mind, is there anyone out there that can offer me a
solution?

Here is some information:

Sony Vaio Desktop
Windows XP MCE w/SP2
Pentium 4 CPU 300Ghz
2GB RAM

More information: The user is computer knowlegable on a medium/advanced level.

Nevermind! Spent about 30 more minutes on it and problem is finally solved
after all of this time. Geez!

Yes, sorry. I simply used the Microsoft Autoplay Repair Wizard (Autofix.exe)
- but I bet you knew that, no? :)

It found the exact device I was having problems with and repaired it.

Very pleased.

No, I was not aware of this one. I have now added
it to my voluminous notes.

It's usually a good idea to post the solution to your
problem as this is highly likely to help other people who
have the same problem. Anyone googling for "Autoplay"
will now see your fix.
