no defrag or restore

recently put xp pro on this hhd. i just noticed i don't have defrag and
restore in my accessories. i have backup. that's new to me. what can i do?

Roght click My Computer, choose Manage. Do you have defrag listed there?

%SystemRoot%\system32\dfrg.msc

%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Do the appropriate screens appear?

defrag comes up. thanks! how do i get it to stay on the menu from there?

restore doesn't come up. and to answer the guys previous post/question, no
it is not there. that is where i thought to go first. my computer/ right
click on c:/ properties/ tools. its there just isn't lit up to be able to
click on it

i just figured out also that although the defrag screen comes up after the
run screen command, none of the commands inside the screen produce results.
i.e. analyse and defrag do nothing

Open a Command Prompt window (start - run - CMD) and enter the
following command:

SFC /SCANNOW

you should test them in safemode as well.

before switching to safemode, initiate
a chkdsk /f from normal mode before
rebooting...
