No color in preview when capturing

I have a bunch of VHS videos to be copied to DVD. I have a in-biult DVD
burner in my Dell computer and I am using a UBS to connect to video output to
my TV with my sound input into the headphone socket.

When I start capture the video displays B&W only with no sound. Are there
any suggestions to rectify this problem?

Thanks
BOZ

Can you give more info on the connections?
UBS? do you mean USB? If so what is at the tv end?
Sound input into the headphone socket? Needs to be mic or line in, as
headphone is surely sound out, what sound card do you have?
If you are using s-video connection to tv and do not have a s-video output
this will result in b/w pictures as the pciture signal is different to
composite.

Yes your are correct I meant USB and it's a Belkin Hi-Speed USD 2.0 DVD
Creator.
I'm connecting the yellow video cable to be back of the tv (yellow video
output).
The sound is now ok as I tried with microphone connector at the back of the
computer.

I'm using the composite connection to the video output on the tb. There is no
s-video output on the tv.

Check the settings in the capture app match those of the vhs tape, ie ntsc
or pal etc.
