no CD audio in Win2000

Hi

Running Win2000 Professional on a desktop, and am getting
no CD audio. No error messages, the system appears to
think it's playing fine. I have a SB128 sound card,
standard (not USB) speakers, and the CD audio cable is
working perfectly (I am multiple-booted with Win98 and
Linux, and it's fine with them). No other problems with
the CD-ROM, the sound card or the system generally. (And
the volume settings are right, obviously).

This problem is quite new, it has worked properly until
recently (so I know the drive is supported by the OS).
Also I've tried a different CD-ROM drive in its place,
with the same results - so it's obv something to do with
the OS, I just don't know what...

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
How are you trying to play audio CD?
If you use the "play" button on the CD_ROM, try some
media player instead, WinAmp for example.

Hi!

Thanks for the reply. Sorry mine is so insanely late.

I've tried everything, the play button and many different
media players. Reinstalling the drivers/sound card
software/media players makes no difference at all.

I'm *really* confused now.
