I
Ian Edgeler
Couple of months ago I decided to finally do away with 98se and install XP
pro. Everybody recommended a clean install rather than an upgrade so
connected a new 120gb drive in location previously occupied by C drive and
transferred C to other interface as I wanted to transfer data to new disk.
Installed OEM version of XP which formatted new drive as NTFS and everything
works great. NO crashes at all since installed. Perfect.
Except that XP was installed on (new) drive F, and old disk is still called
C. Not set up as a dual system. Everything works very well even after I
changed the disk allocation for C to Z. But cannot change F as it is the
boot disk and all registry entries point to F.
Decided to go with the flow as everything was working OK without a C drive
but just updated drivers for my Canon N1240U scanner and it appears that
this defaults to drive C without any possibility of being changed, even
though it was previously working fine from drive F.
As I have now transferred all the date from C/Z, I seem to have 2 options.
Either take out C/Z drive and reinstall everything (Oh horror) or find some
software which will allow me to change allocation of F to C and change all
the registry entries.
Has anybody got a suggestion or am I just putting off the inevitable?
Thanks in anticipation.
