no battery life beyong 20 minutes

When I use my Dell Inspiron 2650 on battery power the machine can only
stay powered for about 20 minutes. I kept the machine on until the
battery completely drain and recharged it to 100%. But the battery life
still reports on 20 minutes when it should report at least 90 minutes.

The battery is likely either worn out or defective, depending on its age.
