Low battery life for Li-Ion 2538CL Compaq

I am using compaq 2538CL model with Xp home edition with Li-Ion battery. But the strange thing is that, evenafter fully charging the battery i am getting only 100 minutes(maximum) without power supply. Is any body else using the same model having the same problem. Or is it the problem with XP as told by my friend that win 2000 or 2003 would take less energy and would allow us to use the same battery for about 3 hrs before the power drains off

Battery power has nothing to do with the operating
system. It does have to do with how much you use the
computer without having a power supply plugged in. Li-
Ion batteries DO have a shelf life and if they aren't
charged pretty regularily they fail. I'd run the battery
low and then do a full recharge cycle for about three or
four times. By that I mean take it down to just a couple
of minutes left, then plug in the charger until it gets
to 100%. Then do it again three or four times. If this
doesn't fix the problem, then you battery is just going
bad and you should get another one.
