No Autorun on Data CD

Earlier I posted the problem that my CD's do autorun, except for data-CD's.
Now it turns out dat some data-CD's do autorun, while others don't. This
happens in the same drive, irrespective of the CD-type (R or RW). Any ideas
or useful links?

Here are some basic facts about autorun:
http://www.phdcc.com/shellrun/autorun.htm

You may also want to check your registry to see if it's enabled just to be
sure:
Browse into:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
Cdrom
Double click “Autorun†make sure it is set to "1."

GLuck!

Thanks for your reply.

Audio cd's and data cd's with autorun.inf are doing all right. Besides, all
autorun parameters are on 'enable', so the problem should be located
elsewhere.

As a similar question along the same lines, was wondering why some boot CDs
are always found bootable, and some only sometimes are found bootable by the
bios. Example: XP install CD Sometimes found bootable, sometimes not.

All XP CD's are bootable. Some earlier MS operating system disks -
Win98/ME were bootable because they were tailored to be so by the OEM
(HP, Dell, etc.). Retail Win9x/ME install disks were not.

If you have come across an XP CD that wasn't bootable, it wasn't the CD;
it was that the computer wasn't set to boot from the CD drive.

Yep, knew that.

What I meant was the same physical XP install CD, sometimes bios finds it
bootable, sometimes not.

DVD R/W is cleaned regularly. Don't have the autorun problem noted by OP
though.

Even if you have a bootable cd, and a pc that can handle bootable cds,
and a new cdrom drive, sometimes it just doesnt work. Why? It's not yet
perfected.
