No auto send/receive

After getting my laptop back from my sister I discovered that my Outlook no
longer sends and receives emails UNLESS I manually click the Send/Receive
button. What could cause this?

Outlook could have been place in Offline Mode;
File-> Work Offline should not be selected.

Other solutions completely depend on the configuration details.

nope. that wasn't it. Also, I checked all the Send/Receive settings under
options/tools and they appear to be OK. So odd. One other problem cropped
up...my Outlook locks up frequently too

Then you'll have to supply some configuration details for us to work with.
We cannot look over your shoulder from here ;-)

Roady: I have the same problem. I am not in "work offline" mode and I can't
find anyplace else within Outlook that deals with this issue. What
configuratioin settingfs should I look at? Is this an issue with the ISP? I
tried there and I don't see any option there either. Thiings are fine if I
hit F9 to download, but it won't do it when I sign on or automatically.
