No audio when palying DVD's

After downloading and installing directx9 into Windows XP
I have lost audio when playing back DVD's in Windows
Media player or any other DVD software player. Having
just upgraded to Nero 6 I am unsure if it is Nero or
directx9 to blame.
 
What DVD playback software (decoder) are you using? They should be able to
help out, and may have an updated version that fixes the incompatibility.
