No audio. How do I get it back?

I accidentally removed some audio device using Add or
Remove Programs in Control Panel. When I try to play some
audio, I get a message saying there are no audio mixer
devices available. "To install mixer devices," it
says, "go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other
Hardware, and then click Add Hardware." I tried this and
it says all the audio devices from the list it gives are
working properly, and nothing comes up when I search for
hardware.

How can I fix this?

Go to windows update,,,from your start or all
programs,,,click hardware support from manufacture,,,hope
they have your drivers for you,,,if you have a disc of
drivers,,,go to the device manager,,,r click
mycomputer,properties,hardware tab,device manager,+ next
to sounds, notice any red X or yellow !,Y right click on
it and update driver with your driver CD in the drive,N
right click on your sound card and uninstall, reboot with
your driver CD in the drive run it thru....If you do not
have a driver disc, you are screwed. If you box didn't come
with a disc at all and is preloaded,do this after you
backup all your files you would like to keep incase you
F*** this one up too,,,from a turned off computer,pump
the F10 key as it starts up,,,the recovery console comes
up,select the non-destructive recovery option,that should
keep your files for you,run it thru you'll be fine and
the sound will be back, you just need to set your
desktop, screen save back, also removes most updates too so
visit the MS windows update page after your done also.If
you have a disc with XP on it for recovery, put it in and
boot from it choosing R and do a repair install. That or
head to your favorite computer store and pick up a sound
card and install it in a PCI slot on your computer, then
plug your speakers into it and your back in the
game, think thats what i'ld do if I were you because if
you delete your sound from add\remove your not someone I
want restoring my box!Comp USA has one for $20

product_code=272121&pfp=BROWSE BestBuy $30
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?

The $5 card is the way I would go if I were you, take the
side cover off,AFTER you turned off the computer and
unpluged it from the wall, should have 1 or 2 thumb screws
holding it in,slides back, holding onto the metal part as
you work inside(to keep it from static electricity)don't
do it on carpet!Take a screw out of the cover on an empty
slot, slide the plat off,put the card in line it up with
the slots, put screw in to hold it,cover back on,plug it
back up,turn it on,put disc in for driver run the wizrd
that comes up.May have to go into device manager and r
click on your old sound card and choose to disable
it...Ahhh what the hell am I telling you all this for
just read the directions that come with the card.
