No Audio Device

I've had a problem for a while. Something went wrong a while back and
windows crashed. I thought it was a video capturing device(Adaptec 2010) so
in Safe Mode I took out the device from Device Manager and then I was able to
run windows without failing.
After I realized that my CD driver and DVD driver had "!" marks by them
along with my audio device. So the only thing to fix the problem was to
uninstal the audio device and the CD and DVD device worked fine. Then I
tried to get my Audio device back and all it says is that it works fine.
The Sounds and audio Devices Properties says that it can't find any audio
device along with the Volume Control says "There are no active mixer devices
available". How can I force my sound and volume devices to reconize the
sound card? Could the sound card be blown when it had the conflict with the
Video Capture Card? Any Ideas on what I could do before going out and buying
a new audio card?
I have already tried over 6 different drivers from old to new from The
audio company C-Media to the motherboard PC Chips. Nothing seems to works.
It is a audio card on the motherboard and called C-Medio AC/97. The
Motherboard is PC Chips Model M848ALU(v2.1?). If anyone has any ideas pelase
help.

i'm not sure what you are going for? I've stated that i have already tried 6
different drivers from the motherboard website and also the C-Media site and
also the cd-rom that came with it. None of those worked. The driver is not
the problem because the driver says it works properly and everything is fine
but in the Sounds it says taht no Audio Device is found meaning that the
hardware is not found. I thought it might be an old bios problem and updated
that. No new tricks? Please help. Thanks.
