No Audio Device in XP

Andy

This probelm happens when the device manager says there is no problem
with the sound card drivers and that everything is working fine. But
in the control panel under sounds there exists no audio devices.

I searched a ton of newsgroups for the answer to this problem, i
didn't find any.

The problem can be fixed by updating to directX 9

Then you have to go to control panel/administrative tools/Services

once in there go down to the bottom right click on the windows audio
go to properties and make sure that the startup is set to automatic,
then start the service.

hope this helps someone out.
