No Alarm tab and power icon does not change

I have a Dell D600 laptop with Windows 2000 as the
operating system, and the alarm tab is not seen in the
power options. The power options are just like what a
desktop's would be. Also, when unplugged it doesn't
switch the AC icon to a battery, it just stays with AC.
It seems like it doesn't see the battery at all. Does
anyone know how to fix this?

We heard you the last six or eight times. Apparently no one knows the answer
or they would have replied. Why not call Dell tech support? Though they'll
just tell you to reinstall the operating system most likely.
