I added to User Profiles to the factory installed
Administrator profile. I gave both new users admin
privledges. However, neither user can perform even the
most basic changes. The Administrator logon
disappeared. I now have no administrator user at all,
and am not even allowed to perform a System Restore!

Help! I'm stuck!

Thanks in advance.
Linda

Greetings --

Once any additional user accounts have been created, the
Administrator account will no longer be displayed on the Welcome
Screen. This is a default security feature that may, or may not, be
needed in your specific situation. By design, the only way to log
into the Administrator account of WinXP Home is to reboot into Safe
Mode. For WinXP Pro, pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome
Screen will produce the standard login dialog box.

Once you have created uses with Admin status, the reserve, emergency
account called Administrator gets hidden. Boot, hitting F8 as BIOS info
goes to black; take Safe Mode, There will then be an icon for
Administrator on the Welcome screen. (If not, hit CTL-ALT-DEL twice and
enter the explicit name
Administrator
and leave the password blank)

In that, Start - Run the line
control userpasswords2
where you can select any account name and take Properties. Make *sure*
the ones you want are in the Administrator group.in Group Membership,
Other section

Then go to My Computer, r-click the drive icon, take Properties and on
the Security page, highlight the 'Administrators' and make sure they
have Full Control
