No access to the desktop

Hi...I am using XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and for some reason I can
not access my desktop. The background appears but I can not see icons and I
can not right click on the desktop. If I add the desktop to the taskbar I
can see the icons - but only on the link in the taskbar and not on the actual
desktop itself.

Have you resolved? Co-worker showed up this morning and his computer went
to the screen to select profile (didn't used to), and when clicked, just went
to desktop background. Eventually it gives up and logs off. Suppose his
profile is corrupted is why it went to the user screen. But can't get past
our problem. Is this what you have?

No my profile was all ok.

I ended up finding a regedit fix for the problem I had. Seems like yours is
a bigger problem.
