Why does Windows XP include FTP but not NNTP service when 3rd party NNTP
service software abounds?

Well I did see the toilet but even that does not work all of the time if it
is not flushed per itemized deposit...

Things probably won't be any different for Vista... Why should MS offer
functionality when you'll settle for eye candy instead?

No one 'uses' NNTP anymore. If you're interested in serving NNTP, you can
get IIS 6.0, which comes with Windows Server 2003 and includes NNTP.

And of course no one burns DVD-Rs so I guess that explains why Windoze
doesn't include that capability either.

My Debian Linux box DOES support NNTP, but it came stock with neither DVD
burning capability nor a web server. Solaris 8 doesn't do DVD burning... I
don't think Solaris 10 (released 2005) does DVD burning.

So, what's your point?

And to add to that, relatively few people do any DVD burning.

Where did this come from then? I thought people are crazy downloading
films and what not and you are saying "relatively few people do any DVD
burning". Relative to what?

Relative to the total number of people using Microsoft operating systems.
I've been using one since 1988 and finally burned something to a DVD last
month. I didn't even have a DVD-R, let alone a DVD-RW until January of this
year. Sure, I'm not a typical user... let me think of the many typical
users I service every day...

Nope... the vast majority of them don't do any DVD burning even though their
OEM machines came stock with a DVD-RW. In fact, I know two companies (who
are clients) that don't even allow RW to a CD or DVD.
