NLB question regarding remote access...

Thomas

Hi,

I have 2 Web Servers running NLB. They are running W2K Advanced Server with
1 NIC in each server. Both of them form a cluster using NLB so it's load
balancing the web sites on the servers. The question I have is that how do
I assign a specific IP to each server so I could Terminal Service in to each
individually? Do I need to install another NIC or does NLB have settings I
need to add?

TIA

Do you mean the Dedicated IP setting in the NLB properties?

They each already have an IP of thier own.

Better wait to see what others might say, I don't know that much about
clustering and I don't want to lead you the wrong way.

Hi Thomas:
Since you configured NLB and you have only 1 NIC on each host you won't be
able to comunicate to a particular member using TS.
The reaso why is that when you configured NLB you actually overide the NIC
unicast MAC addr. with the cluster MAC addr. so all the members of the NLB
cluster share the same MAC addr. You'll need a asecond NIC card in order to
access the cluster members via TS>
Thanks
JC
