Greeted this morning by a Norton Internet Security popup: NetBus
Trojan Horse trying to connect from my computer to the outside world.
Immediately ran a full system scan with Norton Anti Virus: nothing
detected.

How come? I am fully up to date on Symantec downloads and am scanning
twice a week. Likewise up to date on XP SP2.

Well, it did what it was supposed to do...it caught it sneaking in, it
stopped it, and it notified you. If you hadn't been protected, the bug would
have gotten in, been installed and running, and you wouldn't have known
anything about it.

It's like having a locked door. It doesn't keep people from knocking on the
door, but it doesn't let them just walk in.

D.Currie,
Roger's popup message states that "NetBus Trojan Horse trying to connect FROM my computer to the outside world".
It would appear that the Trojan is in his computer and trying to spread to other computers.

Well, it really isn't a virus per se, it is a back door trojan, but any virus scan that is up to date should detect it anyway, and remove it. Try an on line scanner, and take a look here also. http://www.jmu.edu/computing/info-security/engineering/issues/remote.shtml#ProbDetRem
