Yes, a lot of users reports problems.

- Problem with System Explorers, easily solved.

- Problem with updates, tricky problem but can be solved manually.

But try MSAS and see if it works for you.

running xp pro/sp2

never had a problem that you describe. are those issue
happen randomly or older version NIS.
