Nintendo DS Drivers

Bought the Action Replay DS software for my sons DS, software installs fine,
Vista will not find a driver for the DS itself when plugged into the USB port.

Chuck the same installation CD into my creaking XP machine and it works fine.

Are there any DS/USB drivers for Vista ?

Bit of a broken record going on with Vista and drivers.....

The broken record comment kinda suggests you already know the answer.
Nintendo need to provide drivers for the DS. If they haven't got around to
it yet there really isn't much else to say.

You're maybe missing the point, the drivers appear to be bundled with XP, and
yet aren't with Vista.

The DS doesn't have a USB connection port, it's only via a 3rd party plug in
as a pseudo game cartridge it's possible. The third party in question doesn't
supply the drivers on the installation cd- hence the conclusion they're
available from Microsoft for XP.

However I was looking for more of a constructive response than a token 'I
just feel I ought to type something', no need to reply if you can't be of any
help.

I'm looking for a solution for my son, not to get into a debate with some
forum surfer looking for an opportunity for a quick put down.

Had hoped there'd be some serious gamers on here who would know their stuff.

Check with the device manufacturer for Vista drivers.

Nope I'm not missing the point. Drivers are the responsibility of the
component manufacturer. The ones that ship with XP (or Vista for that
matter) are there because they got bundled in with the OS, not because
Microsoft wrote them.

Logical. So if you look at the device in device manager, it should give you
details of the drivers. What do they say?

Well I'm _trying_ to help. I'm sorry if you think simply telling you stuff
you don't want to hear isn't helping.

Speaking of put-downs, what would you call the last line of your post here I
wonder? A sneering implication that I don't know my stuff would be... ooh...
a quick put down. Not to worry, I'll accept your apology for your snide
remark in a private email so you won't have to embarrass yourself further in
here. Or you could just reply with another snide remark or better still
concede the fact that you've really acted like a jerk by ignoring this post.
Your choice.

Thanks Rock, unfortunately their level of support only extends to tracking
your order, no technical help online either.

I have emailed them for clarification on the Vista compatibility thing.

It's not as annoying or fundamental as some of the other issues people are
having, but important on the day it was a birthday present.

Yep I can understand it's relative importance. Sorry I have no experience
with that system to give any further advice. I haven't seen any other posts
about it either. If the drivers weren't included in the Vista DVD (provided
to MS by Nintendo for inclusion) then Nintendo would be the source.
Unfortunately many hardware manufacturer's are not supporting their legacy
hardware with new drivers. Maybe they can offer a work around. Good luck.
