I'm not really displeased with windows vista but one thing really dissapoints
me.
My Software that i have spent a lot of money on (eg: my all-in-one digital
camera printer, my nintendo ds WiFi USB connector & some of my PlayNC games)
I'm pretty sure that windows cant do nothing bout it but they should at least
try or something.

Hi,

Compliance with the specifications of a new operating system is the
responsibility of the software vendor. They need to either release a
compatible version or a patch that upgrades the existing software to run
under Vista. Some will run in compatibility mode (have you tried this?), but
some will not due to changes in the user environment. Sadly, many vendors do
not even begin development until the OS is released (spec's have been out
for several years), and even then they charge for the newer version rather
than working to make an older one compatible.

Hi,

Ok, but nobody ever asked for Vista.

Microsoft conned the main PC makers into trashing XP, which was good enough
for most people.

I don't really recall anyone "asking" for XP, 2000, ME, or 98 either.
Problem is that as hardware progresses, you need an operating system that
can take advantage of its capabilities. Patching can only go so far.
Otherwise, we'd all still be running WinNT/Win95. Manufacturers, to my
knowledge, still offer XP either outright or as a downgrade.

These days, we should not have to fish around newsgroups to find a way of
fixing things that worked before.

Most people just want to use their computer. That has been banned by those
who made Vista practically compulsory.

In the days of 8-bit systems and MSDOS, I was considered the village guru
because I could write 3 lines of batch code. Vista takes us back to those
days, except that now nobody knows how to fix things because it's become too
complicated, and the Powers That Be have decided that anything more than 2
years old has to be replaced.

Regards
