Hi,

That would be up to the manufacturer as to whether or not necessary drivers
are developed or firmware that is compatible is released. Microsoft doesn't
write the supporting software for devices, it writes the operating system.
It includes, where possible, drivers supplied by the manufacturer in the
operating system. Once the operating system is released, supporting files
for additional devices must come from the device manufacturer.

None of us work for Microsoft and MS doesn't write device drivers anyway.
You need to ask Sony.

Sony NEC Optiarc Inc.

"Firmware updates are offered on a regular basis as long as a specific
product is within warranty (from the date of manufacture). The reason for
releasing a firmware update will either be to solve critical errors or to
improve media compatibility. Since our optical drives have proven to be
highly efficient and reliable, the release interval may be longer. Please
visit our download section for these updates."
